During spring break, student members of the Sussex Tech Junior Chapter of Ducks Unlimited attended a Greenwing event at Owens Station in Greenwood.

Greenwing events are designed to show young people the wonders of responsible conservation, shooting sports and responsible gun use. Sussex Tech attended to sell chapter T-shirts, compete in clay shooting and hold a turkey shoot fundraiser in which participants fired shotguns at paper targets.

Students attending the April 6-7 event were Christopher Clifton, chairman, Bridgeville; Brin Parsons, secretary/treasurer, Lewes; Brandon Jackson, Milton; Adam Harkness, Millsboro; and Zach Pulcinella, Ocean View. Advisors David Waters and Scott Layfield accompanied the students.

Senior Christopher Clifton said, “This event served as an excellent outreach by both our chapter and Ducks Unlimited Delaware. It was truly inspiring to get to spend the weekend with not only our chapter members and advisors, but also the young people who will someday fill the skies with waterfowl for generations to come.”

Ducks Unlimited is the world’s leader in wetlands and waterfowl conservation. Its mission is to conserve, restore and manage wetlands and associated habitats for North America’s waterfowl.
