Tara Funk Grim featured at Holiday Art Show and Sale Dec. 6 to 8Children's Beach House sale will present 75 artists
Tara Funk Grim, award-winning local artist, will be featured at the Holiday Art Show and Sale from Dec. 6 to 8 at Children’s Beach House in Lewes.
Grim does her art both in the studio and en plein air. The challenge of doing plein air is a key ingredient in the dynamic nature of the artist's work. “When you are an artist standing in front of an easel with the world all around you, you realize there is too much beauty to capture. The scenes in which you find yourself are like stories that need to be told,” says Grim.
“No matter how much time you take or how big your canvas, you can never say as much as the world around you is saying. When you paint in a studio, there is more time to reflect on the design of your painting. When you paint both in a studio and you do paintings in plein air, you are using the best circumstances to discover and communicate your love of all that is beautiful.”
“It’s amazing how much artists’ personalities come through their work,” said Sharon Gillespie, chair of the Artist Selection Committee. “Tara’s art is no exception. We are so pleased she has agreed to lend her talent to us for this important fundraiser.”
CBH serves Delaware children who struggle with communicative disabilities within the context of their families, schools, and communities. The program includes case management along with summer and weekend camping opportunities.
Rich Garrett, executive director, says, “In shifting the focus to the assets inherent in each child and family, CBH’s approach compensates for disabilities or weaknesses. Our trained staff and volunteers show the young people what they can do. That change makes all the difference.”
