The focus is on football
I have been watching football highlights since I was seven years old. I have never seen a crazier ending to a very important game than what I saw in the game between Alabama and Auburn Nov. 30. As cool as it was, it was a very preventable ending play for Alabama. Their coach, Nick Sabin, screwed up the end of the game when he decided to ask their kicker to attempt a 57-yard field goal to win the game. Since the game was tied, they should have just gone all out and attempted a Hail Mary pass and offered little chance for them to lose in regulation time. Instead, the one thing that could happen to them did! An Auburn player caught the missed field goal in the end zone and ran it back for a 109- yard touchdown to win that game! The announcers went berserk!
In the other important game of the weekend, Ohio State beat Michigan in a great game where there was no defense being played by either team... ha ha. The final score was 42-41! I was on board with Michigan's coach for the decision to try for two points to win the game at the end because they had nothing to lose. It was well worth the attempt but Ohio took the W. This coming weekend will be important in college football with the outcomes determining who will be in the season-ending big bowl games.
The Eagles' win last weekend, in their game against Arizona, should have been a lot simpler than it turned out to be! They had a 17-point lead in the middle of the third quarter and almost blew it by the end of the game! Chip Kelly needs to stop trying to be Mr. Macho Man coach in terms of trying to pass the ball and run out the clock. That's just too risky. This week's game will be very difficult to win since we are playing the first place Detroit Lions. The Eagles have to win all their main games since they are tied with Dallas for first place in their division.
Dont forget to pay attention to the soccer world this Friday, Dec. 6 when the draw will take place for the World Cup. It can be seen on ESPN2 at 11:30 a.m. or watch for tweets on your phones if you are unable to watch TV.
