The Rev. Carlyle Gill of St. Peter's will lead a discussion, "Women in the Bible," from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, July 25, as part of the parish's weekly Summer Spirituality Series presentations held in the Parish Hall of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at 211 Mulberry St. in Lewes.

Who are the women in the Bible? What did they do? Why should people care? Why hasn't everyone heard about them, and how are they related to spiritual journeys of today?

Gill is among the first women ordained to the priesthood in the Episcopal Church. She is a graduate of Virginia Theological Seminary. She spent 30 years in full-time ministry service in parishes from Santa Monica, Calif. to Washington, D.C. She retired in 2006 as interim rector of St. Alban’s Parish. For the last six years she has been priest associate at St. Peter’s in Lewes. She also serves as a spiritual director for clergy and laity in Washington and Lewes. She leads quiet days and retreats for parishes in Washington and Delaware. She will be leading a Centering Prayer Retreat, The Healing Journey, at DuPont House in October.

Each Thursday night through Aug. 29, expert presenters will engage participants in the parish hall of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Fellowship and locally owned King's ice cream will follow each presentation. All are invited and encouraged to attend these free sessions, which are designed for reflection and dialogue.

In addition to providing spiritual resources for those seeking greater understanding of their own religions or learning about others, Seekers uses the net proceeds from its store to help those in need, including the Cape Henlopen Food Basket, Doctors without Borders, and work in Haiti and Centro Infantil in San Miguel de Allende.
