The Upper Crust at 7 E. Market St. in Georgetown is exhibiting works in oil, watercolor, and mixed media by artist Beverly Andrion through early February. A Meet & Greet reception will take place from 12:30 to 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23. Light refreshments will be served.

As a young artist, Andrion regularly visited the National Museum of Art in Washington, D.C., and the Baltimore Museum of Art. In her early years, she sketched charcoal images of things that moved her.

Andrion later married her college sweetheart, earned a master of science degree from Johns Hopkins University and began a 35-year career with the Baltimore County Board of Education.  Since retirement, she has returned to the art of landscapes and seascapes, which have become her passion. Now, she incorporates her memories and experiences into her paintings of local scenes and photos.

Andrion has studied painting for 10 years with many well-known artists. She is a member of the Delaware Watercolor Society, the Rehoboth Art League and the Ocean City Art League, and she regularly exhibits her work,

Andrion says she owes much to her devoted husband, who supports her new habit of disappearing into her studio for hours.  She hopes her art reflects an understanding of life and things that are really important. Visit beverlyandrion-art.com to see more of her work.

The Upper Crust serves made-from-scratch baked goods, fair trade organic coffee, breakfast and lunch in a casual setting. Part of The Upper Crust’s commitment to the community is to offer a gallery space to local artists who might not otherwise have an opportunity to show their works.
