Delaware State Police arrested three people and are searching for two others in connection with an early morning burglary in Lewes Sept. 13.

Someone entered a home on Nottingham Drive in Sussex East by climbing through an unlocked window, said Cpl. Jeffrey Hale of the Delaware State Police.

Once inside, Hale said, the person removed several electronic items valued at more than $1,500 and credit cards before fleeing. The homeowners were asleep during the burglary and reported the items missing when they awoke, Hale said.

After calling to cancel a credit card, one of the homeowners was told that the card was used for purchases at the Georgetown Walmart. Police pulled surveillance footage of four people from the Walmart video, Hale said.

Police later observed a man and woman walking in the Patterson Place development of Georgetown who matched the description of two of the people on the Walmart tape. One had a cellphone that was stolen from the Lewes home, Hale said.

Police arrested Gary Klaft, 27, of Millsboro, Peggy Kachnovitz, 46, of Lewes and Jeffrey Kabino, 39, of Georgetown and charged them with second-degree burglary, theft, attempted unlawful use of a credit card, unlawful use of a credit card and second-degree conspiracy. Kachnovitz also was charged with identity theft and released on $15,000 unsecured bail. Klaft and Kabino were committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $9,000.

Police are searching for Melissa Kabino, 33, and Byron Martin, 27, both of Millsboro. Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to call 856-5850, 1-800-TIP-3333, visit www.tipsubmit.com, or text 274637.
