A three-car crash at 2:45 p.m. Aug. 6 left two cars in a ditch off Wescoats Road in Lewes.

The crash happened when the driver of a Mercury Monterey SUV was traveling westbound on Marsh Road and attempted to cross over Wescoats Road, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

As the Mercury inched out between traffic on Wescoats Road, Fournier said, it hit a Honda Accord and then a Chevrolet Malibu that were traveling westbound on Wescoats Road.

Both the Accord and Malibu ended up in a ditch; the Mercury remained in the roadway, Fournier said.

All three drivers and a passenger in the Malibu were taken to Beebe Healthcare with nonlife-threatening injuries.

No further details were available.

The roadway was reopened around 4 p.m.
