The Georgetown Titans baseball team, made up of players from area colleges and universities, took a doubleheader against the Milton Brewers squad June 7 at Cape Henlopen's Chris Short Field. The teams play in the Eastern Shore Baseball League.

The first of the doubleheader saw the bats of the Titans explode as they went ahead 18-0 in the second inning and finished 21-4 in a slaughter rule-shortened game of five innings.

Joey Gumpman led the Titans, going 3-5 with two singles and a grand slam, driving in six runs. Justin Allen went 3-4 from the plate with three singles, driving in two, along with a walk and a stolen base.

Former Cape player and Salisbury University first baseman Jake Dmiterchik went 2-4, slugging a single and a double and driving in a run. His cousin Cody Dmiterchik, who plays for Wesley College, went 2-3 from the plate with two singles, driving in two runs.

Former Cape player and University of Delaware pitcher Diaz Nardo went 1-3 with a single and two RBIs. Recent Cape grad D.D. Gooch went 1-2 with a single and knocked in two runs.

Alex Lipman went 2-4 with a single and a double, knocking in two runs, while Connor Cooper and Nathan Justis went 2-4 and 1-3, respectively, each driving in two runs.

Former Milford pitcher Chris Huk pitched five complete innings, allowing four runs on two hits, striking out 10 and walking six batters.

The Brewers were led by Jared Boothman, who got the only hit of the game, knocking in two runs. He finished the day with three RBIs.

"It's great having this league for the older players," said Titans manager Mike Dmiterchik. "They can have quality competition in their off season."

The Brewers scored six runs in the second game only to have the Titans outscore them 11-6 in a complete game.

Cody Dmiterchik led the Titans with three singles in the second contest while driving in two runs. Alex Lipman slammed two doubles in the win while Allen, Cooper and Jake Dmiterchik each had two RBIs.

Starting pitcher Nathan Justis threw five innings allowing two hits while striking out eight and giving up 11 walks. Mike Epps pitched two innings in relief, allowing two hits and striking out three.

Colby Murray started on the mound in game two for the Brewers and was relieved by former Viking Bradley Walker.

The Brewers were led by former Milford and York College player Hunter Whalen, who hit a solo shot off Justis in the first inning. He scored three of the Brewers' six runs.
