The main emphasis will be doing maintenance like pruning overgrowth, clearing debris or picking up trash on trails throughout the park. Volunteers will also be doing some invasive species removal, beach cleanup and landscaping.

Volunteers will meet at the large Picnic Pavilion adjacent to the main bathing beach parking lot and choose one of the projects to work on from 9 a.m. to noon. At noon all come back to the pavilion to enjoy a cookout given by the ladies of the Village Improvement Association in Rehoboth Beach.

The first 100 volunteers will receive free National Trails Day T-shirts.

National Trails Day, a national service day created by the American Hiking Association, is sponsored by the Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park. The mission of the Friends in sponsoring this event is to assist the park in maintaining the trails, to encourage citizens of all ages to become involved in volunteerism in their communities, and to promote the stewardship of natural resources.

For further information, contact Rob Schroeder, Trails Day coordinator for the Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park, at the Biden Center, 302-644-5005.
