Treasure or trash? Antique appraisals Feb. 21 at Angola by the Bay
Treasures or trash? Anyone who has ever wondered what their old family heirlooms may be worth can bring them to Angola by the Bay’s own antique road show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, Feb. 21.
Charlene Upham and Steve Blumenauer, partners at Charlene Upham Antiques of Mardela Springs, Md., have volunteered their services to provide informal appraisals of items. They have performed thousands of personal property, antique and fine art appraisals for museums, estates, insurance companies and individuals. They maintain an extensive and up-to-date reference library and subscribe to online data banks to stay abreast of current market trends.
All manner of antiques and collectibles are welcome including art, furniture, pottery and glass, jewelry, toys, Asian items, political items, coins, silver, jewelry, weapons and military items. Large items such as furniture can be appraised from clear photographs.
Proceeds will support the ABTB Women’s Social Group Scholarship Fund to benefit a local teen. The group has been in existence since 1975, sponsoring community events and supporting community improvement projects and local charities.
Admission to this event is $5 per person; the appraisal fee is $5 fee per item or $10 for three items, cash only. Light refreshments will be served; a silent auction will be held. This event will be at the ABTB Clubhouse, 33457 Woodland Circle, Lewes, five miles west of Route 1 off Angola Road. For more information call 302-945-7032 or 302-947-0720.
