Trinity Logistics to hold Hustle for Hunger 5K Run/Walk Nov. 2Perdue Farms joins cause as premier sponsor
Trinity Logistics will host the Hustle for Hunger 5K Run/Walk at 9 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, rain or shine at the firm's headquarters in Seaford. The Healthy Kids Run for kids 8 and under starts at 8:50 a.m. The proceeds from this event will be used to feed local families in need this Thanksgiving.
Runners and walkers of all skill levels are encouraged to come and participate in this event to benefit the community. The run/walk will be held on paved roads, making for a fast and comfortable morning that will touch the lives of many families who need a Thanksgiving meal this year. The roads along the route will be closed down to vehicle traffic during the hours of the event.
Everyone who runs or walks will receive a Hustle for Hunger T-shirt, and participants in the event will be eligible for awards in different categories. Awards will be given for overall male, female, and masters winners, as well as the top three male and female runners in each 10-year age bracket, from14 and under through 70 and over. There will also be post-race festivities, including free food and beverages.
All participants are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to donate for inclusion in the Thanksgiving meals to be distributed to the families benefiting from this event.
The premier sponsor of the event is Perdue Farms, which will be donating 250 roasters to be included in the meals provided. "At Perdue, we believe that in a country as rich in resources as ours, no one should have to go hungry. We're proud to partner with Trinity Logistics in the Hustle for Hunger campaign to provide meals for those in need in Sussex County during the holiday season," said Steve Schwalb, vice president of environmental sustainability.
The registration fee for the 5K is $20 until Saturday, Oct. 26, and $25 after. Registration starts at 8 a.m. Make checks payable to the Trinity Foundation or register online at www.TriSportsEvents.com.
