Trollbeads at the Beach brings Denmark to DelawareTrollbeads at the Beach Festival draws collectors from Mid-Atlantic region
The Blooming Boutique store in Lewes was abuzz with activity Oct. 11, with a red carpet, balloons, DJ, paparazzi and the walk of stars, all to mark the beginning of the Trollbeads at the Beach Festival. The event, the first of its kind in Delaware, attracted Trollbeads collectors and lovers from all over the East Coast, some coming from as far as Connecticut.
Friday night was a glamorous affair with everyone getting a chance to view the biggest collection of Trollbeads in Delaware. The evening included a raffle of an 18-karat gold bead worth more than $900. All proceeds from the raffle benefited the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition.
President and owner of Blooming Boutique Michiko Seto presented the coalition with a check for $1,000. She said, “When we decided to do this event, we knew we wanted a worthwhile local charity to be involved and benefit from it; with it being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it seemed the perfect fit."
On Saturday morning at Lewes Presbyterian Church Hall, U.S.-based Trollbeads glass artisans Gayle Moore and Scott Bouwens demonstrated the skills it takes to make Trollbeads.
Kimberley Walberg, a longstanding and knowledgeable Trollbeads representative, was proud to introduce the newest addition to the company, X by Trollbeads. X is a system where the wearer chooses each individual link in the jewelry piece and constructs their own bracelet or necklace. The line includes rubber, sterling silver, bronze and gold links, which join together to form a custom-designed piece.
Lunch was followed by a presentation by Trollbeads CEO Michael J Belleveau introducing new beads and unique products.
The event included the most diverse and expansive collection of Trollbeads in the tri-state area; more than 3,000 unique Trollbeads were flown in from Trollbeads' homeland of Denmark. Many beautiful bracelets and necklaces were created at the event.
Seto has already put the wheels in motion for next year’s Trollbeads at the Beach events. The first Spring Fling will come March 29 and another Trollbeads event Oct. 17-19.
