By Melissa Steele | Aug 01, 2013

Delaware State Police have charged two men they say stole jewelry and electronics from unoccupied homes in the northern part of Sussex County.

Police got a lead on July 24 when a resident returned to her home in the 22000 block of Wilson Road near Georgetown at 11:15 a.m. and found a man inside, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

The man fled and drove off in a gray Nissan Altima – a description given by the woman to a 911 dispatcher, who immediately broadcast the description to area police, Fournier said.

A Milton police officer stopped the car and arrested Geoffrey R. Soucy, 29, of Lincoln after finding items that had been taken from the Wilson Road home.

Further investigation linked Michael Disanto, 24, of Georgetown to a series of burglaries in which, police said, he helped Soucy take televisions, computers, jewelry and other items from unoccupied homes in Lincoln, Milford, Greenwood and Ellendale.

On a couple of ocasions, Fournier said, Disanto conspired with Soucy to sell the items at pawn shops.

Soucy was charged with 10 counts of second-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, theft of a firearm, 12 counts of theft, two counts of second-degree conspiracy, six counts of theft by false pretense and seven counts of criminal mischief. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $45,750 secured bond.

Disanto was arrested July 29 and charged with two counts of second-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, two counts of theft, two counts of second-degree conspiracy, falsifying business records, theft by false pretense, selling stolen property and criminal mischief. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $27,500 secured bond.
