Two charged in Long Neck burglaries
Two man face charges in connection with a dozen home burglaries in the Long Neck area after police responded to a Dec. 6 break-in at a Bay Farm Road home.
Troopers responded to the 62000 block of Bay Farm Road at 11:30 a.m. after someone reported two men inside an unoccupied home, said Cpl. John Day of the Delaware State Police.
A trooper entered a locked, fenced in backyard when he saw a man standing near the back of the residence holding a pry tool in his hand, Day said.
Police arrested Dale Parker, 31, of Elkton, Md.; a second man, Alex Sczcytkowski, 38, of Millsboro was arrested in a nearby parking lot, Day said.
Day said the men stole jewelry from the home. Police linked the men to 12 burglaries since September in which electronics, cash and jewelry were taken from Millsboro and Long Neck homes.
Sczcytkowski was charged with 13 counts of second-degree burglary, three counts of possession of burglar tools, seven counts of theft over $1,500 and other charges. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $36,000 secured bail.
Parker was charged with second-degree burglary and other charges. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $10,000 secured bail.
