Unitarian Universalists launch capital campaignPurchasing property on Route 9, two miles west of Lewes
The Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware officially initiated its capital campaign for a new home with a dinner event Oct. 26 at the Virden Retreat and Conference Center.
UUSD, which was established in Lewes in 1999, is expanding and purchasing a property on Route 9, two miles west of Lewes. Campaign co-chairs Gary Colangelo and Lee Summerville said, "Our community is ready to establish our legacy and fulfill our vision.”
UUSD is an inclusive religion not based on dogma but on a set of principles valuing meaning, connection, and acceptance. The Rev. D. Michael Smith said, “We offer residents of the area a diverse, loving spiritual community that celebrates the worth and dignity of all persons and supports social and environmental justice. We provide a home for everyone of all traditions to come together, and our expansion will make it possible for us to offer more to the community.”
