Vessella response on roundtable not factual

By Paul G. Griffith | May 09, 2013

Your comment in the May 3 edition of the Cape Gazette states:  “There has been some confusion regarding my involvement in the establishment and reinstatement of the Lewes Board of Public Works Citizens Roundtable.”

Candace, there is no confusion.  You simply had nothing to do with the “establishment” of the Lewes BPW Citizens Roundtable nor was there ever any “reinstatement” of our group as it never lapsed.  We have been meeting continuously, without interruption, for nearly four years!

The Cape Gazette on April 30, published a letter to the editor that I had written titled: “Lewes Citizens BPW Roundtable predates Candace Vessella.”

As founder of the roundtable our group started meeting with BPW nearly four years ago to discuss a wide range of issues.

Ms. Vessella, on her campaign website, claimed incorrectly that she “established a citizens’ roundtable to facilitate informal interaction with BPW customers.”  This is, in fact, not the case.  As previously stated in my April 30 letter she attempted, without success, to cause our meetings to be discontinued.  Why?  She claimed they were a waste of time!  Our meetings continue with the most recent meeting just last month.

I have great confidence in the voters of Lewes to see through your statements and make an informed decision on May 11.

Paul G. Griffith
founder, Lewes BPW Citizens Roundtable
