VIA thanks Chicken Plunge supporters

By Carolyn Billingsley & Stephanie Hobbes | Sep 29, 2013

The Village Improvement Association thanks the many sponsors, prize donors, participants, Rehoboth Beach agencies, lifeguards and everyone else who made the second annual Chicken Plunge a rousing success.

We are grateful to Funland, a Platinum Plus Sponsor, as well as our Platinum Sponsors: Arenas restaurants, the Cape Gazette, Chicken-fil-A, Dos Locos and Jack Lingo Realtor. We'd also like to thank our Silver Sponsors: Nicola Pizza and Beach Waves, as well as Cake Break for the delicious cupcakes. In addition, Azura Clothing and Grotto Pizza were our Bronze Sponsors. The VIA also thanks The Med Spa and Starbucks for donating prizes for the winning Chicken Plungers.

We'd like to acknowledge the many local merchants who provided prizes, including Pickled Pig Pub, Cold Stone Creamery, Henlopen Oyster House, Stephan and Co., JD's Cafe, Big Fish Grill, Frank and Louie's, Odysea, Rehoboth Toy and Kite Shop, Pat's Pizza, Snyder's Candy, Walmart, Shell Shop, and sweetFrog yogurt. In addition, personal chef Kris Etze donated a cooking class, and Books by the Bay donated books for our prize buckets.

We couldn't have held this successful event without the time and effort of the Rehoboth Beach Lifeguard Beach Patrol, Rehoboth Beach Police, Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire departments, Delaware Correctional Industries, Delmarva Chicken Industries Inc., Rehoboth Beach Main Street and the City of Rehoboth Beach. A special thanks to City Manager Greg Ferrese for his assistance.

Lastly, we thank the many members of the community who “got their feathers wet” - and those who stayed dry but added to the fun - for their support.

The money raised from the Plunge goes to the Rehoboth Beach lifeguard patrol and the VIA's capital campaign. We look forward to seeing all of you at next year's Chicken Plunge.
