Dana Downs, BSRT(R)(CT), shows students how x-rays can show the body’s organs.

Students from West Seaford Elementary School traveled to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital on May 1 for an educational fieldtrip. Students learned about nutrition and received an inside look at the hospital. Students toured the emergency department, radiology, and the kitchen. While on the tours, hospital staff provided education through interactive demonstrations and activities. Following the tour, students munched on fresh fruits and vegetables while learning about nutrition.

Nanticoke’s West Seaford Elementary Community Outreach Program, a subcommittee of Nanticoke’s Community Benefit Committee, organized the fieldtrips. Nanticoke Health Services plans to continue their partnership with West Seaford Elementary to increase community outreach efforts.
