Where did that mess come from?
The Eagles' performance in the Dec. 15 game against Minnesota was absolutely pitiful! It was like they thought if they just showed up for the game they would take the win. After all the fanfare about Viking Adrian Peterson possibly coming back from an injury, the Vikings' backup running back stepped up and did a stellar job in his absence. Minnesota quarterback Matt Cassel probably saved his place on the team with his performance. Eagles' coach Chip Kelly's play calls in that game made no sense at all considering how well LeSean McCoy had been playing in the last few games. McCoy was only called on to carry the ball 10 or so times. That's crazy! The Cowboys gave the Eagles an early Christmas present when they blew a 26-3 lead at halftime against Green Bay last week. So, if the Eagles win their last two games against Chicago and Dallas they will actually make the playoffs despite their terrible performances this season.
In MLB news, there is going to be a significant rule change for professional baseball this coming year. It will be illegal for any base runner to intentionally crash into a catcher at home plate. This rule is already enforced in all of amateur baseball but is now coming to the major league level as well. This is being done in response to all of the concussions and other significant injuries that occur in this type of play. Concussions have become forefront in every sport now. Overall I agree with this decision except that baseball needs runs to keep viewers. This will put pressure on Major League Baseball to have more successful offenses and get bats hot right at the start of the season. We're only about two months away from spring training so start counting!
