Why give DMHOA Grant in Aid money?
The Delaware Manufactured Home Owners Association is a nonprofit organization supposedly to help the residents of manufactured housing. They advertise “the only statewide advocacy organization in the Diamond State representing the interests of owners of manufactured homes.” For several years now I have requested an appointment to see the books and records.
I did a FOIA and have collected the information on the Grant in Aid monies they have collected to date. They have collected approximately $10,000 of Delaware taxpayer monies since 2002. Each organization that applies for Grant in Aid monies is required to submit a yearly audit with their application. DMHOA has never had an actual audit done!
Even though Rep. Pete Schwarzkopf stated to Grant in Aid committee members last year that this organization does have an audit, this is not a true statement. It’s not hard, Mr. Schwarzkopf, to prove your statement was not true; all I had to do was a FOIA and gather the information.
Rep. Schwarzkopf, why would you make a false statement? Do those kinds of votes really matter? I would think that your credibility and integrity would matter more.
Do you, Mr. Schwarzkopf, think it’s fair in this economy and with budget cuts that DMHOA receives $10,000? Other nonprofits in need that do follow the requirements to receive state grant monies miss the opportunity when DMHOA has lied? I have copies of the truth. None of the things DMHOA said in the paperwork for the Grant in Aid has been done! I have been refused a review of taxpayer money!
Mr. Schwarzkopf, do you need more witnesses? Stop giving DMHOA a free pass and covering for them. I’m sure a more deserving nonprofit can benefit!
