Wilmington man assaulted in Lewes

Lewes — A man walking across Front Street in Lewes got a punch in the face after using his hand to strike a vehicle he thought to be speeding.

The incident occurred about 3:30 p.m., July 5, Lewes Police Department spokesman Lt. Jim Azato said.

He said the victim, a 57-year-old Wilmington resident, reported the incident. The man suffered a cut lip, Azato said.

He said the assailant was driving a red SUV, but police have no other information about the vehicle.
