	    <description>
	        The Lewes Men’s Chorus plus the Tapsation Dancers presented a rousing, spectacular concert May 11 at Bethel Fellowship Hall. The songs chosen for the theme “Oldies but Goodies” were a refection of years gone by. There was a combination of 19 men’s voices, three band members and three Tapsation
Dancers performing.

The program began with a lovely musical overture by Bill Earl, the music director and the band ...

	    <description>
	        Kudos to Sandi Minard for the fine job she is doing representing Cape District residents on the school board. It was evident at the May 9 Cape school board meeting at Mariner Middle School that Ms. Minard comes prepared, having done research on topics to be discussed. It was obvious, also, that she is actively and respectfully listening and responding to teacher, parent and citizen concerns.
Her knowledge of the ...

	    <description>
	        Lately, I have been hearing and seeing both in the newspaper and from parents and friends that the Cape Henlopen School District is racially and socio-economically imbalanced when it comes to H. O. Brittingham Elementary and Milton Elementary schools.
As a former student of HOB and of the last attending class at Milton Middle, currently known as Milton Elementary, I happen to agree with the protesting parents ...

	    <description>
	        Thanks to the Dewey Beach Town Council for once again poising itselves for yet another lawsuit by local businesses. By elevating a noise ordinance to a criminal status, and linking it to the revoking of businesses licenses, business will be forced to take the matter to court. Instead of reducing the legal fees line item and funneling town money into much-needed services in the town, they will get to transfer ...

    <title>Can you trust Senator Lopez?</title>

	    <description>
	        Last week during the Senate floor debate, Senator Lopez stated his opposition to HB75 regarding same-sex marriage. At that time he also took the opportunity to discuss the negativity of the election process prior to the actual election Nov. 6, 2012. (This was irrelevant to the floor discussion on the bill.) He stated, “It comes down to trust.”
Many of his constituents sent letters, emails and made phone calls in ...

	        Last July on a late Saturday afternoon I heard my doorbell ring. I answered the door and there stood an earnest and pleasant looking young man. He introduced himself as Stephen Smyk and said he was a former state trooper and he was campaigning for my district’s seat in the Delaware House of Representatives. He said he was the candidate representing “family values” and asked for my support in the upcoming election....

	        Tuesday, May 7, was an historic day. We were privileged to witness the state Senate vote on a bill to provide for same-sex marriage in Delaware, and we stood in Legislative Hall and watched Gov. Markell sign the legislation into law. It was a day of elation, celebration and yes, tears of joy. It was a day of justice and respect and equality.
As residents of Rehoboth Beach and as Delawareans, we fought hard to ...

	        A recent letter to the editor from Reid K. The main point he was making, that in a competitive marketplace consumers benefit, is absolutely correct. Initially I thought I was reading a letter from a kindred spirit, having ...

	        While not unexpected, your vote no on HB 75, The Delaware Marriage Equity Act, still was a big disappointment. I emailed you several weeks ago and you did not have the courtesy to respond, a first from a Delaware politician.

	        I have been following, with some interest, the debate over the value of a CVS pharmacy directly across the street from the Walgreens and next to the site of the old Happy Harry's. I must admit I don't quite see why we would need two very similar stores right next to each other, especially given that half of what they sell can be found in the Food Lion next door.
Mr. Beveridge from Broadkill Beach argued that the ...

This complex problem has been difficult to understand, and so very hard to resolve.
