Seven Sisters series begins Memorial Day
The Highway One Group and Races2Run will kick off the 2012 Seven Sisters and Two Brothers of Dewey Beach Running and Walking Series Monday, May 28, at the Rusty Rudder in Ruddertowne. The Highway One Pictures 5K will start at 8 a.m. with registration opening at 7 a.m. $20 preregistration and $25 the morning of the event. Proceeds benefit Beebe Medical Center. The Seven Sisters running and walking series began in 2003 and provides vacationing families, local residents, beach house members and day visitors with nine summer running and walking events.
Registration fees includes fun, fitness, age group awards, talk of the town performance T-shirts, chip timing and a post-race party and refreshments hosted by the Highway One Group restaurant on the deck of the Rusty Rudder. There is a special awards package for those individuals who complete all the Seven Sisters running events including the Highway One 10K and the Bottle and Cork 10-mile run.

DNREC still accepting applications for 2012 low-number hunting license lottery June 5
Division of Fish & Wildlife is still accepting applications for its annual low-number hunting license lottery. At 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 5 in the auditorium at DNREC’s main office in the Richardson & Robbins Building in Dover, the Division will conduct the lottery drawing to issue 25 available low-number Delaware resident hunting licenses with numbers less than 1,000.
Licenses will be awarded to the applicants whose names are drawn, starting with the lowest and ending with the highest number via the live drawing. The lottery is open to the public but successful applicants need not be present as they will be notified by mail.
Postcards must be addressed to Candace Dunning, Low-Number Hunting License Lottery, Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife, 89 Kings Highway Dover, DE 19901. The following information must be included on the reverse side of the postcard: applicant’s name, street address, city, state, ZIP code and daytime phone number. Applications will not be included in the drawing if there is more than one postcard per applicant, or if postcards are received without the information above.
Classic at Baywood Greens to be held June 6
The seventh annual Classic at Baywood Greens is scheduled to take place Wednesday, June 6, at the championship golf course of Baywood Greens, seven miles west of Route 1 on John J. Williams Highway.
This event raises funds for the Robert & Eolyne Tunnell Cancer Center of Beebe Medical Center, furthering the Cancer Center’s mission of providing hope and wellness to its patients. Last year’s tournament raised $30,000 in support of Tunnell Cancer Center.
Cancer survivor and national figure Sarah Brady is serving as the honorary chair of the event, a role she has held since the classic’s inception.
Baywood Greens is the classic sponsor again. Single players are $175 and foursomes are $700. Entry fees include the greens fee, warm-up, contests, golf cart, GPS, breakfast, lunch, on-course refreshments, thank you gift, door prizes and awards.

Be Great 5K set for June 9
A Be Great 5K Run/Walk with special races for kids will be held Saturday, June 9, at Harrington Raceway. The event will be linked to the 15th annual Kids Fest. The 5K, a TriSports Events Championship Series event, begins at 9 a.m.; special kids' races are at 10:30.
Special kids' races include a 50-yard dash for children 5 and under, a quarter-mile run for kids 6 to 10, and a one-mile run for those 11 to 14. These races are free.
The 5K Run/Walk itself is competitive and includes categories for ages 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over. There will be awards in the 5K divisions and medals to kids’ race finishers. 5K participants will receive event T-shirts. Registration for the 5K event is $20 until June 1 and $25 thereafter.

Special recognition will be given to those who raise funds over the registration fee. All proceeds benefit the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club’s One Campaign. The One Campaign is the club’s largest fundraiser supporting youth development programs and services to more than 350 area children. All funds raised are matched dollar for dollar by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware.
Leapfrog Bicycle Tour set for June 16
The Delaware Leapfrog Bicycle Tour sponsored by Downstate Delaware Striders and Riders will be held Saturday, June 16, at Lake Forest High School in Felton.
This is a leap from pond to pond in central and southern Delaware. There is a full and half metric century. The course is laid out to offer a unique look at the beautiful wet and dry scenery of central and lower Delaware. Ride routes are mostly flat. There are two rest stops for the full metric century ride, and one for the half metric century.
Restroom facilities, food and drink will be available at all stops and at the finish. SAG support is provided. Registration fee is $20 and opens at 7 a.m. the day of the event.

Free NASCAR autograph session June 1-3
NASCAR and Dover International Speedway will host a free NASCAR Camping World Truck Series autograph session as part of the numerous fan events planned for the June 1-3 NASCAR race weekend at the Monster Mile.
The autograph session is scheduled to take place from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Friday, June 1, in the Dover FanZone, outside Turn 4 of the track.
The hourlong session is free and open to the public, and fans are encouraged to arrive early as autographs will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Up-and-coming driver Ty Dillon, grandson of Richard Childress and brother of 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Austin Dillon, has already been confirmed for the autograph session. As other drivers are announced they will be added to the list at DoverSpeedway.com, as well as at Facebook.com/DoverInternationalSpeedway and on Twitter at @MonsterMile.
After the autograph session, the drivers will take to the track to kick off a triple-header race weekend at the Monster Mile in the June 1 Lucas Oil 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race. The weekend will also include the June 2 5-hour ENERGY 200 NASCAR Nationwide Series race and the June 3 FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.

OneMain Financial and Dover International Speedway recently announced a renewed partnership for 2012, with OneMain Financial returning as the title sponsor of the fall NASCAR Nationwide Series race at the Monster Mile Saturday, Sept. 29. This will be the second straight year OneMain Financial will be the sponsor.
